JOURNEY TOWARDS HEALING: CLEAR QUARTZ

On November 30th, 2022, while the rest of the world prepared for the Holiday Season and the December Winds began to blow in, I underwent reconstructive hand surgery due to a genetic condition I was born with, EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) that effects my connective tissue.

I was blessed with an AMAZING Surgeon and Anesthesiologist, but despite my gratitude and, in fact, familiarity with the entire process (I cared for my partner as she received this surgery twice—one for each hand), I found myself grieving deeply because my hand now felt foreign to me.

For 24 years I grew accustomed to the way my hand felt and moved. Now, my fingers tingle and are numb in areas. I am swollen and discolored from bruising, there’s a bone missing from my hand, and tendons where they didn't use to be (but should have been). My surgeon holds my hand and smiles:

“Everything is okay, this is all perfectly normal. You are healing wonderfully.”

I smile back, this gives me comfort. But, each time I look at my hand or do my stretches and feel these new sensations and delayed reactions as my body heals and adjusts… I want to cry. I feel so disconnected from my hand.

“ It’s like someone Frankensteined a different hand onto my body!”

I desperately needed to reconnect with my hand, remind myself that it was still mine and still a part of me despite the strange new sensations that accompanied my healing.

Because of Quartz’s wonderful pointed growth formation, Clear Quartz, especially Laser Quartz, is a powerful healer. It’s natural point creates a beam of energy that cuts away negativity and dis-ease within your body and auric field. They also act as strong protectors, clearing your energetic field, removing and blocking all negative influences.

I wore a Laser Quartz point to my surgery, channeling its healing abilities to help harmonize my body with the energy of healing and cutting and creating that the surgeon was going to perform on me. I allowed my body to process and shed any and all emotions that arose as I wore the pendant, letting the Quartz help to remove the blockages and fears that were living in my body. In all truth, as much as I’d like to be this crystal-calm guru who walks unflinchingly  through the storm of human emotions without stepping off the path into spiraling fear, tears, and anxiety; I am not that perfect guru and my mother on a few occasions reminded me to not hold any of my emotions in.

Now, after surgery and during recovery, I still use Laser Quartz and Clear Quartz energy to remind myself that healing is a process, one that ebbs and flows and takes time. Laser Quartz helps to remove my fears and anxieties, leaving room for patience, clarity of mind and emotions, and understanding that healing does not happen over night and the shifts, changes, and new sensations in my body is all part of the journey and the process.

The morning of my surgery, I built an Altar for healing and pulled an Oracle Card: [insert photo of altar] The crystal I pulled was Clear Quartz, one of the Master Healers.

Clear Quartz is an amplifier, this is one of the reasons you’ll see it atop wands. Quartz has the ability to amplify the energy of other crystals or magickal objects around it, as well as whatever energy or intention you charge it with. Because of this, they can be used as powerful tools of manifestation, helping to amplify your desires.

I am also heavily utilizing the use of the CBD cream we sell in Kalypso’s to help manage my pain, remove muscle spasms, ease tingling and numbness, and speed the healing of bruising and discoloration. My family has a history of reacting poorly to painkillers, and I am no exception. I have tried so many different types of topical CBD’s, many of which had little to no effect or smelled terrible. That was until I found the brand we now carry in Kalypso’s and swear by. This cream not only can get me out of bed and walking on days the pain in my joints is unbearable, it also aids in the entire bodily healing process. I have recommend this cream to a number of different people, all with different pains and ailments, and each one comes back telling me, “I’ve tried everything. I honestly wasn’t even sure this would work… but it does! It’s a life saver!”.  I’ve even had people bring it into their surgeons and tell them, “You have to tell your patients about this!”

Healing is a journey. Whether emotional, spiritual, or physical, healing takes time and each journey is unique to you. Begin that journey by connecting to anything outside yourself that you feel has your highest and best good in mind, ask it to aid, guide, and protect you. Then, find tools or totems that resonate with the type of healing you are trying to manifest. Next, create an Altar or Sacred Space to manifest that healing. Finally, give yourself permission to ebb and flow, feel all the emotions and the ups and downs that come along the journey. Let the tears be cleansing, let the fear be inspiration for hope, let the anger be the passion to move forward.

“Better out than in!” My grandmother always said.

Sending Healing Light to you on your journey,

~Bijan
